About Dholera:
India’s First Greenfield Smart City

Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), widely known as Dholera Smart City, is India’s first platinum-rated greenfield smart city. Strategically located in Gujarat as a major node of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), it is designed to be twice the size of Delhi and six times the size of Shanghai.

Spanning 920 sq km in Gujarat’s heart, Dholera is transforming barren land into a zero-carbon metropolis, powered by AI, renewables, and global connectivity. By 2042, Dholera is envisioned to host over 20 lakh residents and create nearly 800,000 jobs across key industries.

By 2026–2027, expect rapid residential/commercial growth, job creation, and rising investment interest.

Key Developments as on 2026

Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway

The Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway (part of Bharatmala) is 95%+ complete — it will slash travel time to ~45 minutes from Ahmedabad. Railway surveys for a new Bhavnagar–Dholera line are actively underway in January 2026.

Dholera International Airport

This game-changing greenfield airport (Phase 1) wrapped up major construction by late 2025 and is set to become operational for Commercial and cargo flight operations are scheduled to begin in 2026 following final AAI certifications.

ABCD Building

Phase 1 (Activation Area ~22.5 sq km) is nearly complete with roads, power, water supply, and the ABCD (Administration & Business Centre) command center fully operational.

Mega Industrial Push

The biggest highlight is the Tata Electronics semiconductor fab (₹91,000 crore investment) trial production is expected by late 2026, A single Largest Investment by TATA ELECTRONICS at a single specific location in its History.

Renewable Energy

The Dholera Solar Park has already commissioned over 1,200 MW of its 5 GW target, providing clean, ultra-reliable energy. Tata Power Solar, ReNew Power, Vena Energy and SJVN have all secured bids to enhance the park’s capacity.

Freight & Metro Connectivity

Dedicated rail lines, including the Bhimnath–Dholera link and connectivity to the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), are set to boost industrial logistics. The planned MRTS metro project will also transport options.
